Man gets 3 years on drug charges in Montana

A Montana man who sold methamphetamine to a Montana police informant and who was accused of running a drug lab was sentenced Monday in Montana District Court.

Christopher Cleveland, 24, was sentenced to three years in state custody for distribution of dangerous drugs. Judge G. Todd Baugh said the sentence, which was part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, was "a rather light sentence for a drug dealer."

Cleveland was charged in April with felony drug possession, operating a clandestine drug lab and criminal endangerment. He pleaded guilty to the single felony drug charge in October in exchange for the dismissal of the other charges.

Charges against two women arrested with Cleveland are pending. Prosecutors accused the three of running a meth lab at 2520 Second Ave. N.

Cleveland has no previous felony criminal record and has been held in the county jail since his arrest. He also was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine.
