Montana family meth ring charges continueAnother person has pleaded guilty for his role in a methamphetamine ring that ranged from Helena, Montana to Browning, Montana.
Jeff Henry Harwood is scheduled to be sentenced in federal court in Great Falls, Montana on March 4 for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. He faces no less than 10 years in prison and/or a $4 million fine.
Harwood's case arose from the investigation of a meth distribution ring involving a Helena area family. According to information from the United States District Attorney's office, officers with the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area task force determined last February that Sherry Minear was going to be transporting about three pounds of methamphetamine from Helena, Montana to northwestern Montana for distribution.
After Minear was arrested, her home at 1440 Valley Speedway was searched and turned up a "drug ledger," which reflected the distribution of methamphetamine during the past few years. Drug enforcement officials said Minear's involvement started with the acquisition of meth by her son, Christopher Fisher.
He would obtain the meth from other drug dealers in Oregon for redistribution in Montana and elsewhere.
Minear eventually began to obtain methamphetamine from her son's sources, and developed her own customers and dealers, one of whom was Harwood. She and her husband, Ray Minear, allegedly would sell methamphetamine to Harwood, who would turn around and sell it to his own customers.
Sherry Minear told Montana officers that two of the three pounds of meth seized from her vehicle on Feb. 7, 2003, was intended for Harwood.
Sherry Minear recently was sentenced to 21 years in prison for her participation in the meth ring. Both her husband and son have pleaded guilty in connection with the case; Ray Minear is set to be sentenced in February 2004, and Fisher is scheduled for sentencing next March.
