Dilaudid
Side Effects 
Dilaudid
is an analgesic narcotic with an addiction liability similar to that of morphine.
It is apparent within 15 minutes and remains in effect for more than 5 hours.
Dilaudid is approximately 8 times more potent on a milligram basis than morphine.
Often called "drug store heroin" on the streets. Dilaudid inhibits
ascending pain pathways in Central Nervous System. It also increases the pain
threshold and alters pain perception. Dilaudid is a very addictive narcotic.
Individuals can form an addiction to Dilaudid within days. Dilaudid's side effects
very in intensity from person to person and are not usually life threating.
Dilaudid side effects include
but are not limited to:
- anxiety
- constipation
- dizziness
- drowsiness
- fear
- impairment of mental
and physical performance
- inability to urinate
- mental clouding
- mood changes
- nausea
- restlessness
- sedation
- sluggishness
- troubled and slowed
breathing
- vomiting
Less common side effects
of Dilaudid include:
Agitation, blurred vision,
chills, cramps, diarrhea, difficulty urinating, disorientation, double vision,
dry mouth, exaggerated feelings of depression or well-being, failure of breathing
or heartbeat, faintness/fainting, flushing, hallucinations, headache, increased
pressure in the head, insomnia, involuntary eye movements, itching, light-headedness,
loss of appetite, low or high blood pressure, muscle rigidity or tremor, muscle
spasms of the throat or air passages, palpitations, rashes, shock, slow or rapid
heartbeat, small pupils, sudden dizziness on standing, sweating, taste changes,
tingling and/or numbness, tremor, uncoordinated muscle movements, visual disturbances
and weakness.
